Role and Responsibilities
Central Florida Zoo

Sanford Middle School's project feature students applying the math and science they are learning in class to the running of the zoo. Zoo staff will provide some behind the scenes access to students as well as serve as a resource for information.

Sandi Lynn and StephanieWilliams at the Central Florida Zoo have been fantastic resources as we explore ideas and design the projects.

The final products of the students will be on display at the zoo in educational kiosks.

InBalance

Milwee Middle School's project features students applying the math and science they are learning in class to health and fitness. Shari Nein from InBalance will be guest speaking with classes at Milwee.

Milwee will sponsor a health fair featuring several local business and speakers.

Valencia Community College

South Seminole's project features students applying the math and science they are learning in class to the creation and use of an outdoor classroom.

Dr. Patti Smith, an ecology professor and environmental consultant, is assisting with project design and implementation. She will also serve as a resource for students during projects.

Seminole County, Florida Natural Lands Division Jim Duby and Amy Raub are working with South Seminole's outdoor classroom project, specifically in the implementation of the butterfly gardens. Laurie Hartsock is also supporting the teachers and students!
Heifer International This wonderful organization works to end world hunger. Rays of Hope students in Amy Schwandes' class will be learning about global warming and its effect on world hunger. They will create a newspaper, a podcast and a public service announcement and then present to the Chamber of Commerce in an effort to raise money for Heifer International.

University of Central Florida Dr. Stout, professor of Ecology, may be serving as a resource for teachers and students in project design or implementation.
